The lovers in ochre

In a world of muted gold, they stand,
Two figures drawn by a tender hand.
His gaze falls heavy, laden with thought,
Her eyes alight with something fraught.

The sweep of her hair, a crimson flame,
Speaks of passion too wild to name.
Yet her lips, sealed tight, betray a fear,
As though the truth lies hidden near.

His shadowed face, carved from despair,
Seems to falter beneath her stare.
Together, they bend like trees in wind,
Bound by a love both blessed and sinned.

The strokes that hold them, rough and raw,
Reveal the artist’s tender awe.
Two souls entwined in a fleeting embrace,
Lost in time, yet etched in grace.
