529 Carmelo

A noteworthy artist is Carmelo. When we were children we used to go to his house to see his paintings. He did not paint out of vanity. He painted for a living. Indeed he has made impressive copies of the great masters. He was not a forger. His canvases were sold as copies. At least we hoped so. Otherwise he would have had to earn a lot more. Carmelo painted the same picture for months, even ten times. Impressive was the "Lady with an Ermine" by Leonardo Da Vinci. He told us that while he was painting a subject by a classical master many times he was able to identify with the author's life ... This was wonderful, but Valerio was sad and melancholy. He felt caged in our city. He left everything and fled to another state and sought and found work as a waiter. After many years, however, art knocked on his door again. Today he is an excellent illustrator. When you are an artist you can't escape anywhere. But that's a good thing!
